I know this for a fact because on the occasions that I go to the gym, I find it is easier to train with a gym partner rather than doing everything alone. Weights feel lighter for some reason, when you are being psyched by another person. From my own experience, I know that the mere fact that the other person is watching out for me imbues me with strength, because I know if the weight overwhelms me, he will quickly step in and lift it off me. When training alone, I do not have such a safety cushion, and for that reason, I will always train with weights that can never truly test my strength.

If you’ve tried to lose weight, you’ve inevitably read about or even tried a few of the literally thousands of diets that exist. Some of them make ridiculous promises of weight loss and fat loss with a pill or supplement. Others swear that you’ll lose significant pounds by eating one or two foods like cabbage soup, grapefruits, or carrots.
On the surface, each of these diet programs appears different, but they all have one thing in common. They do not work. Let me be clear about that statement. I am not implying that if you do nothing but eat cabbage soup for a week or two, you won’t lose a few pounds. It’s entirely possible. Of course, when you stop eating soup and start eating real food you won’t necessarily keep off the pounds. What I mean is that to lose weight, be healthy, and be able to live your life, you need to be able to eat real food & things you love to eat . A life of deprivation and vegetable soup doesn’t sound so appealing.

When I can’t sleep I watch infomercials. It’s a habit and I usually get a good laugh at what the product is doing or promising. It’s always something revolutionary that’s going to change your life as you know it. I especially love the ones about dieting. I think I’m most drawn to these because I’ve lost over 60 pounds with Weight Watchers and I know that I couldn’t have found my success with a pill or a juice drink. I’ve watched a number of these infomercials and I noticed something similar – they were all geared toward women; each one was talking about sexy hourglass figures or fitting into “that little black dress” or pair of jeans. Now, I know that these diets don’t work, but it occurred to me that men were being left out of the equation. Do these fad diet companies not understand that men want to be healthy and fit too? Well probably not. Of course, Weight Watchers has solved that.

Keep Your Mouth Shut!
The success of any fitness regime is more dependent on diet than fitness training. It is no use going to the gym or exercising if you are going to undo all that hard work by eating like there is no tomorrow. This is even more difficult when traveling as you are often vacationing at hotels or resorts with sumptuous, all you can eat smorgasbords, offering mouth watering delicacies.
