Medifast Works for Me - 50 Lbs So Far - My Review and Success Story

Hello! My name is Kathleen and I live in Pennsylvania. I am 33 years old and am the owner and author at the blog, Just the Two of Us and Deals!

I grew up in a single parent household and with this, my mom tried to make up for my absent father by cooking a lot for me. In my house and in my family, saying “I Love You” was only “said” via a cooked meal. While I was a normal weight all the way up until 11 years old, it was then that the weight slowly started to get packed on. All through middle school and high school, I was teased for not only being overweight but for not having the best brand clothing because my mom couldn’t afford it. I never told anyone about being bullied, I merely turned to my friend of food which didn’t judge me, was always there for me and comforted me when I needed it. I continued to gain weight.

I had tried MANY diets in the past

I tried Atkins and while initially it was great to eat meat, cheese, eggs etc, I got tired of eating the same things over and over plus after the initial few weeks of losses, I didn’t lose at all.

How Does Medifast Work?

Here is how Kathleen lost 50 lbs on Medifast

Easy to Prepare Lean and Green Asian Shrimp Stir Fry

Watch Stacy Hawkins of TimeSavorGourmet.com as she demonstrates how to prepare a delicious Medifast "Lean and Green" Meal: Asian Shrimp Stir Fry!

“Lean and green” is a term coined by Medifast diet. Medifast users eat a "Lean and Green" meal as part of their 5+1 Medifast daily eating program. But "Lean and Green" is also a saying that has become a part of our life and daily routine over the last few years.

Stacy’s Medifast Lean & Green recipe is full of flavor and color. Her delicious recipe justifies her fame as "Queen of Lean and Green."

The most important thing is to have a well-stocked refrigerator or pantry where you can dig in and find ingredients, simple ingredients which would aid cooking and preparation at home. Running to the super store for every small item would leave to chaos and confusion and thus you may not be interested in cooking or eating the dish again.

Medifast Diet Pros and Cons - Medifast Review

Before you get on Medifast, you may want to know the pros and cons of this diet program. As I love to research diet programs, I looked at what Medifast users say about this doctor-endorsed diet. I read many comments in blogs and forums and I made a list of the pros and cons. But first, let me tell you the basics of Medifast.

Medifast Basics

The Medifast diet has over 70 choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and snacks. Each meal is low fat and has a low glycemic index. The diet is not limited to only overweight people who are healthy otherwise. The program also caters to individuals who suffer from conditions like Type 2 diabetes and gout.

Medifast refund

(read Kate's real Medifast testimonial...)

A common question is: What if I realize Medifast is not for me? Could I get a refund?

This was a big plus for me when I was researching diet plans like Medifast and the others. I wanted to know for sure that I could get a refund if this big box of diet stuff showed up at my door and I found out that I couldn’t stand the taste of it.

Has that happened to you? You order a new diet product and when you try it out you find out that it tastes awful?

With Medifast, you can receive a refund of the purchase price on any unopened, unused boxes returned within 30 days of purchase.

In my research, I did not find anyone who had any complaints or problems with Medifast’s refund policy. That told me A LOT about Medifast. These days if someone is mad at a company, the first thing they do is go on line and tell the world about their problem.

What Sheri says below, is a common experience to those who have requested a refund.

Medifast versus Weight Watchers

(read Kate's real Medifast story...)

Almost everyone I found in my research said the same thing: Medifast is faster and more convenient than Weight Watchers. That was another persuasive point for me. When I tried Weight Watchers, I jumped through all their hoops and followed all their numerous rules and hardly lost any weight at all.

Scarlett said it this way:

“I tried every diet out there. I joined Weight Watchers right after Christmas, followed it to a tee and only lost 2.6 pounds in three weeks! I stay motivated by Medifast because of the results!”

Medifast versus Nutrisystem

(read Kate's real Medifast review...)

I tried NutriSystem last year. It was working, but I gave it up and switched to Medifast because I lost weight faster;

I was able to reach my desired weight faster therefore pay less; I have more freedom to cook my own food once a day; and, best of all, I can enjoy a “real” dinner when we go out with friends.

Every good restaurant I know of has at least one nice salad that fits the lean and green meal. (If it doesn’t, it doesn’t meet my definition of a good restaurant.)

My online research showed that many people had the same experience – like this one:

Is Medifast A Liquid Diet Like Optifast?

 (read Kate's real Medifast story...)

My research found that this was a hot topic. Personally, I have a tough time with the idea that I have to drink all my nourishment. I have to EAT… at least a little something.

People on the forums shared this:

“Medifast is not a liquid program, since you eat one meal a day of real food and it’s actually very filling.” -- Nancy

“Medifast in not Optifast. Medifast is a 5 and 1 plan where you have one “real” meal a day so you don’t feel completely taken away from food and it’s not as hard to transition.” -- Kay

Medifast: Will I Feel Hungry?

 (read Kate's real Medifast testimonial...)

I don’t know about you, but real food temptation, especially in the first few days, is a real battle for me. I was amazed to find that after the first 3-7 days the hunger went away. It seemed like my body adjusted to the new way of eating and accepted it. The nutrient balance of Medifast in combination with its 6 low calorie meals each day did the trick. I wasn’t hungry and I had oodles of energy. Medifast says the program is designed to reduce hunger in 48 hours.

Other people said their experiences were about like mine:

“Having the supplements 5 times a day with 1 regular lean and green meal REALLY controls your hunger. It may take 3 or 4 days before the hunger is under control but it is WELL WORTH IT. I recommend it highly!!” -- Trinc

“Once I figured out the "lean and green" mix - which is really not difficult - I find that I'm not hungry, and if I am, I just have an approved snack. I look forward to much more success! I started Medifast 10 days ago and have lost 13 pounds already.” -- Dave V
