Treadmill Safety Rules for Children

There is no mistaking the comfort and convenience of having exercise equipment in your home.  What better way to make sure that you set a good example for your kids than showing them how to integrate daily physical activity in your life?

The problem is that treadmills can pose a number of safety concerns for children.  Sometimes young children and treadmills are placed in the same area and competing for the same space.  Frequently parents will place treadmills in play rooms in order to multitask their work out while supervising children.  Unfortunately without adequate supervision or education, children can, and sometimes do, become injured in the home while playing on or around treadmills.

Treadmill vs. Elliptical - Which is Better for Getting in Shape

As someone who reviews fitness equipment professionally, I continually get asked which is better for getting in shape, a treadmill or an elliptical trainer? They are the two most popular types of fitness equipment on the market. Treadmills have been around for about 30 years, and elliptical trainers first came on the scene approximately 10 years ago. Since the introduction of elliptical trainers, otherwise known as cross trainers, they have continually gained market share on treadmills.

Treadmill Benefits

The popularity of treadmills is based on the fact they accommodate the most common forms of exercising - walking, jogging and running. You do not need a special talent or coordination to use a treadmill. You just turn on the machine, set the speed and you are off. There are several features that make treadmills appealing.

Compare Treadmills to Treadclimbers - What Helps Losing Weight Faster?

The dispute between treadmills and treadclimbers, each seen as better than the other to lose weight, is growing day by day. This happens mostly because people tend to praise one or the other.

The fact is you can’t say one is better, but what can be said is that one of them is faster. And as far as my experience goes, people who want to lose weight want to do it fast.

The treadmill is a machine that works with only one belt and uses incline up to 15% and speed up to 13mph. Most treadmills have consoles with useful preset workouts and additional gadgets (such as the heart reading system and entertainment features).

The treadclimber is more diversified

The treadclimber is more diversified, as it works as 3 machines into one, treadmill, elliptical and stair climber. Main difference between these 2 machines is that treadclimbers have 2 belts, one for each foot, which allows users to make two movements at the same time, climbing and walking.

Five Easy Steps to an Effective Treadmill Workout

Although many treadmill reviews make hopping onto a treadmill for half an hour after a focused aerobics or weightlifting session sound like a breeze, repeating the same workout day after day can cause even the most disciplined fitness enthusiast to lose interest in their workout. Likewise, people often lose sight of their fitness goals in places, like gyms, that encourage distraction.

Luckily, you can transform a throwaway treadmill routine into an effective workout, but it will take an honest look at your assets, including the treadmill and a willingness to embrace some change.

Use the Treadmill's Full Potential

The first step in creating a more effective workout is ensuring that you are fully utilizing all of the features of your treadmill. Simply turning on the device and setting the speed control isn't enough. Minimal knowledge reaps minimal results.

However, you can gain a better understanding of all the functions on treadmill by asking an instructor for tips or reading the owner's manual, which will likely add more depth to your workout. Applying this information--from the heart monitor to the incline to the pre-programmed workouts — can transform a treadmill from motion machine into a fitness tool.

Nautilus T516 Treadmill Review

The main reason I’ve never liked treadmills is the high impact toll that they take on my feet, legs and ankles. Nautilus must have been reading my mind when they designed the T516, because this treadmill is sturdy and provides enough of a cushion to your step to absorb all of the impact that normally leaves your knees feeling like they’ve been rattled.
