Men and women everywhere are trying to lose weight. Whether you’re interested in losing 10lbs for that upcoming party or you have a long way to go to get to your goal weight, why not do something fun to lose those pounds?

Dance routines have quickly become the go to way to lose weight because not only are they effective but they are fun to do as well. Dancing is definitely my choice over the treadmill!

How Does Dance with Julianne: Just Dance Work?

Dance with Julianne is a fitness DVD that takes the jumping jacks and jogging out of cardio and replaces it with fun dance moves that don’t feel like a workout at all.

This video will tone your legs, arms butt and abs all with a few key moves but more importantly how these moves are combined is what will get you results. This product is meant to put fun back into fitness and help you lose weight without having to do it the traditional way.

The workout is broken into 3 parts. It also contains a Warm Up and a Cool Down session.

What people are saying about this product is that if you’re looking for a high impact cardio workout without having to do jumping jacks, you have found it with this DVD.

JJ, a reviewer from found the workout to be difficult but found results as well. Although it may not be beginner friendly, you have to start somewhere and jumping into the deep end may be the place to begin! It can be hard to get the choreography down but after a few workouts you will begin to get the hang of it.

NotThatGirl has never had dancing experience before and yet "this dvd helps me work up a sweat even if I can't execute the moves as well as Julianne can.", she says. 

Julianne explains in detail how to perform the tougher moves and the dancers in the background provide alternative moves in case you cannot execute some of the complex ones.

Will I Lose Weight?

Just as with any cardio routine it can be hard to say just how much weight you’re going to lose. The key to a fitness program such as this is consistence. You want to try to work out at least 3 times a week, for best results 5 times. If you have a lot of weight to lose a program like this is a good place to start because it will blast you with calorie loss in the beginning and you will likely see a difference early on.

  • The choreography can be frustrating and too hard in the beginning
  • For some people, 53 minutes is too long to fit into their day

  • Some people may not like the techno music that accompanies it.

Problems and Complaints

The biggest complaint I found about this workout DVD is that it can be too hard to follow and learn. When you are dedicating yourself to a workout routine it can be frustrating when you can’t keep up or learn the steps they are teaching you. The only way to fix this problem is to watch the DVD first, without working out to try and get a feel for what’s happening.

Time will help you learn so try not to get frustrated in the meantime. Be aware that some reviewers have stated this program is not beginner friendly and may be too hard if you’re just starting out.

Do I Need to Know How to Dance?

This is a common question and concern when it comes to dancing fitness DVDs but the answer is no. Anyone can take part and enjoy the dances within a fitness DVD without having any previous dance skills or knowledge.

Julianne does an excellent job in this DVD cueing you and instructing you along the way. Remember, it really doesn’t matter how you look, it’s about the workout you’re getting from the moves.

Overall, this fitness DVD gets a 4 out of 5 star rating. For the most part reviewers and customers were completely satisfied with the workout.

It’s been described as high impact, fun, exciting and successful. However, there were a few people who were frustrated with the choreography and said it was too hard for beginners.
